Memorial Day means honoring our soldiers, parades, BBQs, and relaxing with friends and family. The unofficial start of summer, it's also the time when we swap out of cold weather clothes for summer essentials. Yay... we can wear white pants again (though did we ever really stop?)!
To celebrate summer's arrival, we've picked our favorite must-have's in crisp white that will keep you in style through Labor Day.
Wedding Guest Dress Code Explained
Have you ever received a wedding invitation that left you clueless about what to wear? From "black tie optional" to "semi-formal," the language can be difficult to decipher. To help you look and feel your best, we've broken down the most common wedding-guest dress codes. Also take a look at out our SS Wedding 2015 Pinterest Board to see our favorite wedding looks by venue.
Black Tie Optional: A traditional tuxedo is the preferred choice of attire for black tie optional events. If a man decides not to wear a tux, a dark suit, white dress shirt and conservative tie are also appropriate. Women should wear either a cocktail dress or a dinner suit.
Black Tie: For a black tie event, men should wear the traditional black tuxedo with a formal white shirt and a black bow tie and cummerbund. For women, opt for a long, floor length evening dress. If it is summer, a cocktail reception or a daytime event, a short cocktail dress is also appropriate.
Formal: Formal usually means the same as black tie, but can also translate to a black shirt and no with a tux. Women should wear long dresses or dressy evening separates.
Semi-Formal: Semi-formal means that tuxes and long dresses aren’t required. An evening wedding (after 6 PM) still requires a dark suit for him and a cocktail dress for her. Daytime semi-formal events mean a suit for him (which may be a lighter color) and an appropriate short dress for her.
Business Formal: This is the same as semi-formal for men, but for women it means more tailored dressy suits and dresses.
Detox Drink to Jumpstart Your Day
At the Canvas office we are strong believers that looking good starts with feeling good from the inside out. Sometimes after a busy few weeks, our bodies need a bit of a refresh. This is a favorite go-to morning drink to help detox the body and jumpstart the day. It's also great for helping to knock out a cold (which I feel like half of us has right now!).
Ingredients:
Juice from 1/2 lemon
1 tbsp organic apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup raw cranberry juice (not from concentrate)
(agave to sweeten if you like)
Directions:
Combine cranberry juice, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar, and drink. Chase with a glass of water. Alternatively, you may combine the water with the juices as well.
Drink every morning for 2 weeks. You'll notice more energy and better skin after just a few days!

Stress-Free Spring Closet Cleaning
There’s more to spring cleaning than tossing your winter clothes into the back of your closet and calling it a day. It’s a good opportunity to go through your entire closet and see what's working, what you aren't wearing anymore and what can be put away until Fall. So in the spirit of out with the old and in with the new, here are our 5 stress-free steps for cleaning out your closet.
1. Assess your current style and how it translates through the clothes in your closet. If you've become less boho and classic, it may be time to replace those long flowy skirts for tailored pants.
2. If you haven’t worn it in at least two years, then it is time to let it go. We always tell ourselves we may need it one day, for that one event, but chances are it will just end up sitting in your closet for another 2 years.
3. Hold on to heirloom pieces. We all have those special pieces that we don't always (or ever) wear, but we just can't get rid of. For example, that dress you wore on your honeymoon or the vintage blouse that belonged to your mom. Take any heirloom pieces from your closet and store them in an airtight bin. This will help preserve them and free up room in your closet.
4. Ditch wire for wood. Wooden hangers are more gentle on you clothes and preserve their shape for longer. Plus, while you're busy swapping hangers you will get a good look at what's hiding in your closet.
5. Organize by category. Organize your closet so that all of your pants, shirts, skirts, etc. are arranged together. Then take it one step farther and organize each category by color. It may be time consuming at first, but it save time later when you aren’t digging around for your favorite top

On the Fringe
Fringe is a huge trend for Spring. While I can't exactly endorse going all out with fringe pants and jacket, there are definitely more subtle (and stylish) ways that you can incorporate it into your wardrobe.
Try it on a shoe!
Incorporate it with a purse
Show it off with your earrings
