I often hear clients and friends say that they love dresses because they are easy to wear (Kimberly can always rock a good dress!). I have never really been a dress person outside of formal events or beach vacations. So I decided to branch outside of my comfort zone and ordered this Addidas dress during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale over the summer.
Athleisure Doesn't Have to Be Yoga Pants
We often think of athleisure as yoga pants and an elevated sweatshirt. What drew me to the dress is that it takes the althleisure style that I love to wear and adds a feminine silhouette. For for the past month it has absolutely become a closet staple. I've worn it everywhere from a mid-week lunch to wine tasting and HH with friends.
Take Your Dress from Day to Night
The Addidas dress looks great with my white sneakers (the pair photographed are actually men's sneakers from Target's Goodfellow & Co. line and I am OBSESSED with them), but I can also pair it with heels for an evening look. Since it is an all black silhouette, I would opt for a colored pair of stappy heels or even an embroidered mule.
How To Pick The Right Dress For Your Body
Dresses make great pieces for Fall and can take you into Winter easily when paired with tights and boots. Here are a few tips on finding the right dress for your body shape.
1. Show off your curvy figure by opting for a dress with a belted waist.
2. Dresses that flare out slightly, such as A-lines, are great for balancing out broad shoulders.
3. If you have an athletic body look for dress with draping or ruching. A cinched mid-section gives the illusion of a more curvy shape.
4. A fit-and-flare dress is ideal for women with thin waists and small upper bodies.
